“Leaving” is a series black and white images created over a five year transitional period, sparked by my sudden transit from North Jersey to Atlanta, GA. During this fluid process I documented my travels, and realized many times along the way I did not mentally prepare for such a dramatic change in my life. I flew at it feet first, questions later. As a result, I ignored the accumulating baggage in my heart and soul. My camera became the physical barrier between myself and dealing with my real and spiritual self. The developed images have become personal memento mori's, remnants of my Old Life before the transition to Atlanta. You see the moments as I mentally remember them: blurry, fleeting, raw, full of paused emotion.The character you will meet on April 1st is one manifestation of my processing this time in my life, in an attempt to leave it. I'm leaving.
